The Malvern Project
A Malvern garden is typically sloping and this one was no exception. Here there was a three meter change in height over a relatively short distance. It was a challenge to create useable space in front of a new garden room as well as make a new upper garden. The design solution included retaining walls and creating beds with evergreen structural planting in a unique terraced design. Steps with several landing spaces were designed to allow easy access to the new upper garden making the travel between the two spaces easy and inviting. Using a mix of new and reclaimed materials married with the narrative of the house which similarly comprised old and new elements.
